Ms Lim Bee Lian has more than 20 years of PR and marketing communications experience, most of which were in the IT industry, with MNCs such as IBM and Lotus. Prior to setting up her own agency, Red Couch Communications, she was marketing director at start-ups like Commerce Exchange (B2B exchange infrastructure) and EdgeMatrix (multichannel and wireless infrastructure). She was instrumental in introducing the companies’ new technology to both local and international media and analysts, and helped to develop and build their brand equity. EdgeMatrix became much sought after by US and European analysts, and Commerce Exchange was recognized as one of the top three companies in the e50 awards despite being in business for a short time.

At Lotus, Bee Lian was Marketing Manager for the Asia Pacific region. She saw to the successful launch of Notes R5 in the region that included an integrated marketing campaign The campaign covered a customer event that attracted more than 2,000 attendees in Singapore alone, and television, print and web advertisements. Bee Lian was also responsible for establishing the PR infrastructure for the Asia South region.

During the earlier part of her tenure at IBM, Bee Lian specialized in internal communications, before moving to advertising and promotion, and eventually marketing. She was responsible for many product launches and customer events, and developed and produced various marketing collateral for the various product lines – from personal computers to enterprise systems.

Bee Lian has also headed PR and marcom functions in the healthcare industry. She was Marcom Manager at Toa Payoh Hospital that later became Changi General Hospital. She took on the complete transformation of the “look and feel” and the branding, and implemented numerous innovative PR and marcom programs for the community and staff.

Bee Lian has done publishing and television, having been a journalist and acting editor for a business magazine (Vietnam Today) and a producer at Asia Business News (now CNBC).
Prior to a career switch, Bee Lian was in accounting and management planning in the private and public sectors.

Bee Lian has a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in Accountancy, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.
