John is currently a partner with Steven Lee, Dason & Partners. His practice consists of mainly commercial and civil litigation, and general corporate work. With more than 10 years of legal experience, he has been involved in a number of contentious and non-contentious cases.

John has undertaken contentious cases in relation to contractual disputes, construction claims, shareholders disputes, partnership disputes, defamation matters, employment disputes, disputes between landlord and tenant, insolvency proceedings which include winding-up and bankruptcy proceedings and personal injury claims. Some of his cases have been reported in the Singapore Law Reports, and are leading decisions.

On non-contentious matters, John has advised clients extensively in negotiating contracts. He has drafted several agreements, some of which include, local and international joint venture agreements, shareholders’ agreements, partnership agreements, employment contracts, distributorship agreements, franchise agreements, sale and purchase agreements, landlord and tenant agreements (residential and commercial properties), sports related proposals and agreements (such as sponsorship agreements, marketing and franchise agreements and employment contracts), trust deeds and powers of attorney.

John has conducted workshops on drafting employment contracts, and he recently presented a seminar on a proposed legislation, Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Bill which was enacted on 1st March 2004.
